Foo Course, a training concept based on adoption
This week our partner Foo Café is launching their new training concept Foo Course. The idea is to combine training with adoption to make sure investments in new skills have a lasting impact on the team.
Adoption — what change management was always meant to be
Adoption is an approach to change management that helps you shift focus from convincing people with “What’s in it for me” value propositions, to consider two other factors that are crucial for change to occur and people to adopt new behaviours. It’s a means of understanding and resolving the resistance to change hurdles by taking a pull perspective rather than a push perspective. Put, in other words: going from “implementing a new process in the team” to “helping the team adopting new ways of working”.

Let’s imagine an arbitrary management team facing a complex strategic challenge, like failing relevance and increasing competition. There’s a multitude of potential paths forward and depending on who we ask the obvious answer is different. To the marketing manager, it’s a matter of brand equity, to the product manager the problem is a failure to execute innovative ideas and to the CFO it might be a matter of cost-efficiency.
